Faith,
Lovely little rhymes about the things you may find in the ocean。 lots of extension possibilities such as creating a rhyming page for a new animal and making your own class book。 Cross curricular as you can act out the actions of count the hidden starfish throughout for mathematics support for EYFS。

Love the catchy wording and colorful pictures。

Children's literature picture bookPK-1After not caring much for Rumble in the Jungle by the same author and illustrator, I was not too optimistic about this book。 However, the text in Commotion was better, using rhyming verse to teach the reader facts about the water creatures。 The illustrations are extremely colorful, though I feel they verge on 'cutesy。' Still, I think that early readers would be drawn to the book。 I might use this when doing a unit on water creatures or as a mentor text on wr Children's literature picture bookPK-1After not caring much for Rumble in the Jungle by the same author and illustrator, I was not too optimistic about this book。 However, the text in Commotion was better, using rhyming verse to teach the reader facts about the water creatures。 The illustrations are extremely colorful, though I feel they verge on 'cutesy。' Still, I think that early readers would be drawn to the book。 I might use this when doing a unit on water creatures or as a mentor text on writing informational texts on animals。 。。。more
Linda Brewer,
This is a cute book as a read-aloud for grades K-2。 It has interesting illustrations and a rhyming text。 I would use this book for an alphabet series, or in a text set on fish in a lower grade。 It has a Guided reading level M。
Sandy,
A collection of poems about ocean animals for young children。 It was cute。 This was the second time we've read this book。 We'll probably check it out from the library again before our next visit to the ocean。 A collection of poems about ocean animals for young children。 It was cute。 This was the second time we've read this book。 We'll probably check it out from the library again before our next visit to the ocean。 。。。more

Kayla Krause,
This book is super cute and is great for the classroom。 You can read this book to students when learning about the ocean and then for an activity you could have the students make a sea creature out of playdoh!
Lynn Davidson,
This story in poems written in [sometimes awkward] rhyme takes the reader on a tour of underwater life。 Illustrations and verse introduce the reader to dolphins, sharks, crabs, angelfish and more。
Farida Ladipo-Ajayi,
Love it so much, such a delightful way to learn about life under the sea
Kyrstin,
Little poems about ocean animals。
Karina,
Cute story about sea creatures。 Gets little ones to identify the ocean animals with weird adult noises。 Lol

Genre: PoetryTeaching Points-This book is great for introducing poetry and looking at different types of poems for the younger grades。 It connects works of literature to life in the ocean, which is atopic most kids are familiar with by early elementary。
Isabella Uranga,
I liked this book because it was short poem with rhyming about underwater life。 It also taught the kids about the ocean life and where the animals lived if it was in the sea or land or both and described the animals。
Rachel,
Excellent rhyming book that explores different oceanic animals。
Miss Sarah,
A preschool and up book about animals that live in the ocean with cute little explainations about each one。
Alyce Hunt,
Highly educational, introducing children to lots of different creatures found in the ocean using fun and memorable rhymes。 However, it seems a little bit long: our daughter's attention wavered halfway through, and I'll be honest and say that even I started feeling a little restless towards the end! A really nice book but for an older age as it's information about sea animals and not a story, will try again when my 2 y/o is older。 A really nice book but for an older age as it's information about sea animals and not a story, will try again when my 2 y/o is older。 。。。more

Charming, short individual poems about ocean creatures。 I wish there was a little more devotion to accuracy when it comes to facts about the animals, but of course that's not what it was going for。 Charming, short individual poems about ocean creatures。 I wish there was a little more devotion to accuracy when it comes to facts about the animals, but of course that's not what it was going for。 。。。more

Helen,
I am on vacation for a week with my just 2-year old granddaughter。 We are staying on the beach on the West Coast。 So this book was my nod to where we are and something she’d take home for memories。 It’s a book about the ocean and who/what live in its waters。 For the most part I really liked the poems。 There were one or two I found a bit grizzly (scary?) for a very young child。 So in true adult fashion I just skip over those parts。 Enough time for her to hear the reality of life。 Actually I think I am on vacation for a week with my just 2-year old granddaughter。 We are staying on the beach on the West Coast。 So this book was my nod to where we are and something she’d take home for memories。 It’s a book about the ocean and who/what live in its waters。 For the most part I really liked the poems。 There were one or two I found a bit grizzly (scary?) for a very young child。 So in true adult fashion I just skip over those parts。 Enough time for her to hear the reality of life。 Actually I think this book is more suited to an older (4-6) child。 Bean just turned 2 and some of the poems were a tad long。 So I paraphrased and moved on。 I can see this being a book she will grow into word-wise。 Just letting her look at the pictures and talk seems to be good for now。 。。。more

Lots of funny rhymes about different sea creatures。
Elizabeth,
This is definitely a preschool to early elementary book。 The rhyming is fun, however, it would probably not hold the attention span of a toddler。 Unless you shortened the book by reading part of each blurb, and asking the child(ren) to identify the animals on each page。 The illustrations are colorful and fun。 ^_^
Sue Read,
Bright, colourful and great for young children。 This book takes us through a number of creatures living in the ocean。 It's bound to prompt plenty of discussion and further exploration of life at the seaside and in the sea。 Bright, colourful and great for young children。 This book takes us through a number of creatures living in the ocean。 It's bound to prompt plenty of discussion and further exploration of life at the seaside and in the sea。 。。。more
